Dear Reader,

My father was a drill sergeant in the US Army. At about a buck-twenty-five soaking wet, I think the hat was bigger than he. But, he didn't let his size stand in the way of delivering a killer basic training (aka boot camp).

Today (and tomorrow) I'm hosting a free training about email list-building and I'm calling it a boot camp, too. But, don't worry, I'm referring to the THIRD definition:

boot camp
noun
: a camp where people who have recently joined the U.S. Army, Navy, or Marine Corps receive their basic training
: a short but very difficult training program
: a program or situation that helps people become much better at doing something in a short period of time

No screaming, marching, or pushups here! My boot camp is all about getting the lowdown on four great list-building strategies and deciding which one(s) might work for your organization.

Your email list may be small right now, but with the best tools to engage and attract new people, it can still kick a$$ and take names. 😉

There's still time to register to join us: https://www.bernadettemack.com/listbuilding

A-ten-hut!

Dear Reader, My latest blog post is about how startlingly few nonprofits send consistent email to donors and subscribers. HALF. We all know how critical the first 30 to 90 days are to the lifecycle and...

I'm resending this to you, Reader, because I got a lot of great feedback from readers and I wanted to be sure you saw it: Dear Reader, At the beginning of this year, I set several business goals for myself and I started using a simple system to track my progress. Because my business is new, two of my top goals are: getting more visibility and expanding my reach. Therefore, I keep a spreadsheet of my community growth activities that I update every month. I just love to tally up the gains! Now...

Dear Reader, What happens when a new member or donor joins your organization? Do they get a receipt? A welcome message? Some digital swag, perhaps? How do they get welcomed and engaged? For busy organizations with small staff teams, the scenario is probably some version of this: automated payment receipt, followed by... a message from the executive director with a link to the website/member-benefits page, followed by... ...crickets. Until it's time for the next campaign, event, or renewal...
